Business trade associations represent the majority of SmithBucklin clients. Today we provide full-service management to more than 63 volunteer-governed organizations operating within the business sectors of manufacturing, distribution, agriculture, education, financial, retail, and business to business and consumer services. Collectively, our full-service business trade client organizations represent $70 million in total annual budgets and nearly 180,000 members.
Executive Directors (referred to internally as Association Executives) are responsible for working closely with an Association client’s Board of Directors to implement and manage all policies, programs, services and practices for the Association. Executive Directors are responsible for the overall strategic, operational and financial well-being of clients.
We are currently seeking professionals in the construction/buidling or small business space.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Role/Responsibilities:
- Advise the client’s Board of Directors on matters regarding policy and provide professional advice and direction on the Association’s business
- Serve as a spokesperson to the industry as required by the Board of Directors, and ensure effective, timely and strategic communications
- Provide leadership to staff and volunteers to develop long-term strategic plans that support the Association’s mission and goals
- Develop and direct the Association annual budget and maintain adherence to budget guidelines and objectives
- Keep abreast of developments and changes within the Association’s industry and competitors
- Write business plans and proposals that anticipate and/or meet an Association’s need.
- Drive education and advocacy programs for the Association
- Act as primary liaison between volunteers and cross-functional staff team to ensure seamless service delivery
- Provide leadership, support, and actively participate in Association committees and task forces
- Allocate staff and resources to meet objectives and investigate and implement ways to improve the efficiency of a service or operation
- Direct performance management of Association’s staff as it relates to meeting goals and objectives
- Initiate and anticipate potential opportunities to enhance and grow the Association
- Develop and maintain relationships with other societies and organizations that enhance the Association’s position
